The song, written by the artist, was Cooke\u2019s very first Number 1 record and was groundbreaking in no uncertain terms: a pop record by a gospel great that created the template for what would come to be known as \u2018soul\u2019. Cooke\u2019s easy manner, bell-clear intonation and truly spectacular vocal ability set him apart from all others in both pop and R&amp;B. This holds true today just as it did at the dawn of his secular career.<\/p>\n<p>Sam Cooke was very much at home in the recording studio; the 65 tracks he cut for John and Alex Siamas\u2019s Keen label, over the course of three years, reflect his massive talent at a turning point. \u00a0Now the authentic Keen recordings of Sam Cooke, sourced directly from the original master tapes, are available for digital download.\u00a0 Sam Cooke&#8217;s authentic Keen recordings downloaded from iTunes, Amazon and all authorized digital E-tailers offer an unparalleled listening experience. \u00a0The series includes a virtual box set, (the equivalent of 3 CDs) containing Cooke\u2019s complete Keen recordings as well as four of his originally released Keen LPs with multiple bonus tracks. As always, ABKCO assures the consumer the very best audio quality thanks to painstaking research that has yielded tracks from the original tape reels from which the Keen albums and singles were mastered in the late 1950s and early 1960s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This virtual box set titled, <em>Sam Cooke: The Complete Remastered Keen Collection<\/em> is a three-volume compilation that offers the Sam Cooke aficionado the unique opportunity to download all of Cooke\u2019s Keen album and single tracks for a comprehensive overview of his time at the label.\u00a0 The first volume of the set offers 23 tracks, 13 of which are the content of Cooke\u2019s 1958 LP debut for Keen, simply titled <em>Sam Cooke.<strong> <\/strong><\/em>The album\u2019s other ten tracks are singles presented in mono as originally recorded and released. Beyond \u2018You Send Me,\u2019 the set includes \u2018Summertime (Part 2),\u2019 \u2018Ain\u2019t Misbehavin\u2019,\u2019 \u2018That Lucky Old Sun,\u2019 \u2018(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons,\u2019 \u2018You Were Made For Me,\u2019 \u2018Desire Me,\u2019 and \u2018Almost In Your Arms (Love Song From \u2018Houseboat\u2019).\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The second volume in the set includes the 1958 album <em>Encore<\/em> in its entirety, as well as all the tracks from Cooke\u2019s 1959 salute to Billie Holiday<strong><em>, <\/em><\/strong><em>Tribute To A Lady<strong>,<\/strong><\/em> again, in mono as originally recorded and released. Among the collection\u2019s 24 tracks are \u2018Along The Navajo Trail,\u2019 \u2018Mary, Mary Lou,\u2019 \u2018When I Fall In Love,\u2019 \u2018I Cover The Waterfront,\u2019 \u2018Today I Sing the Blues,\u2019 \u2018God Bless The Child,\u2019 \u2018I\u2019ve Gotta Right To Sing The Blues,\u2019 \u2018Good Morning, Heartache,\u2019 and \u2018T&#8217;aint Nobody&#8217;s Bizness (If I Do).\u2019 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The set\u2019s third volume is an 18-track collection comprised mostly of singles and selections that appeared on hit collections and various artist compilations.\u00a0 These tracks, with the exception of \u2018Everybody Loves To Cha Cha Cha\u2019 and \u2018With You\u2019 are in mono and also include \u2018Only Sixteen,\u2019 and \u2018(What a) Wonderful World,\u2019 written by Cooke along with Lou Adler and Herb Alpert who were on staff at Keen.\u00a0 Rarely heard songs include \u2018Ee-Yi-Ee-Yi-Oh,\u2019 \u2018No One (Can Ever Take Your Place),\u2019 plus, \u2018I Thank God,\u2019 \u2018Deep River,\u2019 \u2018That\u2019s Heaven To Me,\u2019 and \u2018Steal Away,\u2019 the four gospel tracks that were released on Keen\u2019s gospel artist compilation LP, <em>I Thank God<\/em><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Also released concurrently with the virtual box set are the individual Keen albums with bonus tracks.
