Alberto Donatelli<\/strong> is an\u00a0Italian born songwriter, singer, guitarist, indie spirited, self-produced honest out and our rocker in the traditional sense, whihc is quite refreshing in the modern era of over-produced, trendy stuff! He took time out from a busy schedule to speak with Eyeplug…<\/p>\n

01 How did you start in music?<\/h3>\n

Good morning, very nice to meet you, for first thing, and a big \u2018hallo\u2019 to all the staff and readers here on\u00a0eyeplug.net<\/a>\u00a0so\u2026 I\u2019m a guitarist and a songwriter, an Italian Rocker, born and raised in\u00a0Rome. I write all of the lyrics and music for my songs and I started in music playing guitar by myself at the end of the 80s. We could say, with a little bit of self-irony, that I’m a \u2018craftsman\u00a0Rocker\u2019.<\/p>\n

02 From where comes your way is?<\/h3>\n

From the tons of American Rock & English life style that I loved when i was 15\/16 years old!<\/p>\n

03 Who were the major influences and inspirations and you despise?<\/h3>\n

I really love Bruce \u2018The Boss\u2019 Springsteen, Guns & Roses (old kind), Oasis, Rolling Stones, Aereosmith, Bon Jovi, Richard Marx and more in this big Rock area!\u00a0What I Despise? I could say that I do not understand (and I will not do it!) all the \u2018productions\u2019 like \u2018Boy\/Girl\u2019 Band and the others funny \u2018POPpers\u2019.<\/p>\n

04 What inspires you to make your current kind of songs and sounds?<\/h3>\n

The important but little daily things that I see and live everyday… just like one of mine song (one that I love a lot), titled \u2018Dire la verit\u00e0<\/i>\u2019 (Tell The Truth).<\/p>\n

Refrain lyrics says:
\nTell The Truth\u00a0is a revolutionary act \u2026<\/em>
\n and \u2026 feel\u00a0the blame is an extraordinary event!
\nTell The Truth\u00a0is a gesture full of courage:
\nand… ask for apologize does not guarantee a \u2018good\u2019 landing!<\/em><\/p>\n

05 What can a person who has never seen you live before expect from your live shows and then maybe even now?<\/h3>\n

I can say for sure something special: the choice to manage Independently and everything that produces revolves around the creation, publication, distribution and promotion of my music and the live concerts. So… I\u2019m Able to do all of my Rock music & my shows \u2018as I want and how I want\u2019… without constraints nor compromise. That’s amazing! Fans feel it, I know it!<\/p>\n

06 How do you start your songs? What types of themes and subjects do you deal with?<\/h3>\n

Simple: my life, my problems, my creepy days, my enemies and (or) the lovely people around me. The same really important things of everyone of us!<\/p>\n

07 How did your music evolved since you started playing?<\/h3>\n

My debut single (in 2001!) was arranged not my style, too pop and “fake” style! Well: I had to wait another 4 years and 2 other CD album before you can start (finally) to produce and publish my music 100% following the nature and reasons of my Rock inspiration.<\/p>\n

08 What was the biggest challenge? Were you be able to overcome this? If so, how?<\/h3>\n

Oh yeah! I know it for sure, I explain: due to constraints of \u2018discography laws\u2019 in the past years from 2000 to 2005 I could not just develop my own music style. Now, from 2006 and I sure it will be forever, I do it! Only and only all the music that I want and how I want! That’s the miracle, the biggest challenge won! The beauty to not have contracts with the CD-companies: personal freedom and artistic expectations!\u00a0I have been able because the chains were too much narrow: there was no other way out!\u00a0With tons of faith in myself!\u00a0Now I risk firsthand and what returns to me is 100% for me.\u00a0Good or bad that comes. Simple.<\/p>\n

09 You play covers? If you could choose any song you would like to cover and why?<\/h3>\n
\n

No I don’t. With an only & special exception that regards the amazing song \u2018Iris\u2019 by Goo Goo Dolls. It’s probably the most beautiful\u00a0Rock Ballad<\/i>\u00a0of the history. It’s the only song that (sometimes) I play with great joy, together with my songs!<\/p>\n

10 Where did you envisage to be in five years?<\/h3>\n

At this point I would say\u2026 to be \u2018Opening Live Act\u2019 for a next\u00a0Goo Goo Dolls\u00a0<\/i>World Music Tour, why not?<\/p>\n

11 Who would you like to record with?<\/h3>\n

Still the Goo Goo Dolls<\/em>, but it would be incredible if I could be just for one day in a recording studio with the Boss, Slash or Richard Marx.<\/p>\n

12 What can we expect from you in the near future?<\/h3>\n

The most important project (out few days ago, on July 4, 2013) is the release of my new single \u2018One Morning In Late Summer\u2019\u00a0(omils 9\/11)<\/i>“, a rock-ballad about 9\/11, which i trust to deal with delicacy and love. The song is now available for digital download Exclusively and\u00a0only in the U.S.A. & Canada territories.\u00a0I want to organize a fundraiser\u00a0to donate, through the sales of the song, the proceeds to\u00a0to the September 11 relatives and family Associations.\u00a0All informations needed are on\u00a0www.omils.com<\/a>.\u00a0I have already written my new unreleased songs: so at the end of summer we will enter the recording studio to prepare my 5th album, to be released by summer 2014.\u00a0A last, but important things, is to say thanks to Finally, it’s important to present the musicians in Donatelli\u2019s band who have worked on<\/p>\n
